Homemade Pani Puri Recipe

Pani Puri is a crispy spicy Indian snack loved by people all over the world. It is served in street side food joints as well as restaurants. But, keeping in mind the flavors and hygiene, it can be made easily at home as well. It is a semolina ball filled with potato and black gram stuffing and dipped in spicy or sweet tangy water. This Pani Puri recipe is very simple, you can make it easily at home. Let’s know its ingredients and recipe.

Ingredients

 

For Puri

  1. 1 cup semolina flour
  2. 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  3. 1/2 teaspoon salt
  4. 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  5. 1 tablespoon oil
  6. lukewarm water as required
  7. oil for deep frying

 

For Stuffing

  1. 2 large potato, boiled and mashed
  2. 1 cup boiled black or green chickpeas
  3. 1 chopped onion
  4. 1 teaspoon ground black pepper powder
  5. 1 teaspoon chat masala powder
  6. a handful of fresh coriander leaves
  7. salt as per taste

 

For Spicy Water

  1. 1 cup fresh mint leaves
  2. 1 cup fresh coriander leaves
  3. 1 green chili
  4. 1-inch ginger
  5. 1 teaspoon chat masala powder
  6. 1 teaspoon roasted cumin powder
  7. 1 teaspoon black salt
  8. 4 cups of water
  9. 1/4 cup boondi

 

For Sweet Water

  1. 1/2 cup tamarind
  2. 2 tablespoon crushed jaggery
  3. 4 cups of water
  4. 1 teaspoon chat masala powder
  5. 1 teaspoon roasted cumin powder
  6. 1 teaspoon black salt

Instructions

 

For Puri

  1. In a large bowl, mix all puri ingredients except water.
  2. Add lukewarm water slowly and knead a dough of it.
  3. Knead this dough for at least 10 minutes continuously using both the hands to make crispy puris.
  4. The dough should smooth, not too hard but flexible.
  5. Cover the dough with a wet cloth and allow the dough to rest for at least 30 minutes until the semolina has absorbed all the water.
  6. Once the dough is easy after 30 minutes, knead it for one final time and divide it into small balls of 5 cm diameter.
  7. Roll each ball flat on a rolling board with the help of a rolling pin.
  8. With the help of a cookie cutter, cut round balls from each sheet of rolled dough.
  9. Heat oil for deep frying and deep fry all puris on low to medium flame until golden brown.
  10. Once all puris are ready take them our on an absorbent paper and keep it aside.
  11. Homemade puris are ready for the pani puri recipe.

 

For Stuffing

  1. In a large bowl, take mashed potatoes, boiled black chickpeas, chopped onions, and mix well.
  2. Next, add, and mix all other stuffing ingredients to this mixture and keep it aside.
  3. Potato stuffing for pani puri is ready.

 

For Spicy Water

  1. Take all spicy water ingredients in a mixer and blend them to form a green paste.
  2. Take water in a jug and add this green paste in it and mix well.
  3. Strain the water and add boondi to it. spicy water for pani puri is ready.

 

For Sweet Water

  1. In pan heat tamarind and crushed jaggery. Melt it and add 4 cups of water to it.
  2. Now, add chat masala powder, roasted cumin powder, black salt and bring this water to a boil.
  3. Reduce the water to half its quantity.
  4. Sweet and tangy, sweet water for the pani puri recipe is ready.
