Ingredients

  1. 1/2 cup moong dal yellow split lentils (washed and soaked in water for 30 minutes)
  2. 1/2 cup broken rice
  3. 1/4 cup green peas
  4. 1/4 cup carrots chopped
  5. 1 medium-sized onion finely chopped
  6. 1 medium-sized tomato finely chopped
  7. 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
  8. 1 green chili finely chopped (optional)
  9. 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  10. 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
  11. 1/4 teaspoon asafoetida
  12. water as required
  13. 2 tablespoon oil or clarified butter
  14. 2 tablespoon cilantro chopped
  15. salt to taste

 

Instant Pot Electric Slow Cooker

Instructions

  1. Heat oil or clarified butter in an instant pot or a pressure cooker.
  2. Add cumin and allow them to splutters.
  3. Add chopped onions, ginger-garlic paste, green chili and saute them for 2 minutes.
  4. Then add tomatoes, carrots, green peas, and salt and cook till the tomatoes soften.
  5. Now, add soaked lentils and broken rice and mix well.
  6. Close the lid and cook on a high flame for 8- 10 minutes.
  7. Once cooked, take it out in a string plate or a bowl and garnish with chopped cilantro, and top it with clarified butter and serve hot.
