Ingredients

  1. 1/2 cup – porridge
  2. 1/2 cup moong dal ( split yellow lentils )
  3. 1/2 cup mixed veggies, roughly chopped (carrot, green peas, capsicum, cauliflower)
  4. 5 – curry leaf
  5. 2-3 cup of water
  6. 1 tablespoon oil for cooking
  7. 2 tablespoon oil for frying dalia
  8. 1/4 teaspoon cumin seeds
  9. 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
  10. a pinch of asafetida
  11. 1/4 teaspoon mustard seeds
  12. salt to taste

Instructions

  1. First, heat oil in a pan and fry the grains (dalia) until aromatic.
  2. Take it out and keep it aside. In the same pan, again heat oil, and mustard seeds, curry leaves, and cumin seeds, asafetida and cook wait until it crackles.
  3. Then add split yellow lentils to the mixture and stir-fry for 3 to 4 minutes.
  4. Add some water, turmeric, veggies, and salt, and leave it to boil.
  5. Add cooked porridge or dalia gradually while stirring to avoid lumps.
  6. Cover the lid and cook until the porridge turns soft.
  7. Do not overcook it.
  8. Healthy veg dalia is ready, serve it hot in breakfast.
