What is Dalgona Coffee?

The trend of the dalgona coffee challenge began in January when Korean actor Jung Il-woo showed how to prepare it. The actor traveled to Macau and tried it and named it dalgona for its similarity to the popular Korean honeycomb sponge candy. This foamy beverage formed by beating the same volume of instant coffee powder, sugar, and hot water until it turns foamy and then adding milk. It is topped with honey, ice, cocoa, biscuits, etc. This unique coffee is sweet with the flavor of caffeine. It is light, rich, and creamy in texture.

 

How to make Dalgona Coffee?

 

Ingredients

  1. 2 tablespoons instant coffee
  2. 2 tablespoons coconut sugar
  3. 1 cup of ice cubes
  4. 2 tablespoons hot water
  5. 2 cup chilled milk

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine coconut sugar, instant coffee, and hot water.
  2. Whisk it or beat it with a hand blender for 3 to 5 minutes until the color changes to a golden brown. After 5 minutes, it will get light, fluffy, and thick in the consistency.
  3. In a serving glass, put ice cubes and pour milk.
  4. With the help of a spatula, top chilled milk with the whipped coffee mixture.
  5. Easy Dalgona coffee is ready to serve.
